For anyone (with larger feet) that’s interested, in regards to the NS SL, the NS Legacy sounds pretty much identical except that it is wider.

Hey Everyone!

I think i’ve gotten myself down to two boards for this upcoming season on the east coast!  I’m come into luck with some extra money so i’m going to be spending it on the best gear setup possible :)

I’m down to

YES The Dudes 149 vs Burton Custom Flying V 148

can anyone give me a real difference of pro or con on either of these boards?  I’ve read through the reviews and they both seem to be great boards for this upcoming season.

Will Union Contacts work with the burton board?  I heard they have a different binding system, so if I can’t use the contacts, what bindings would you recommend for it?

I’m still stuck on the boots also, could anyone just shout out some boots that I should try so I can get a good list going?

Thanks!

So many boards on this site… you’ve got to be more selective!

Ok yep, with the Custom, you’ll need to have Burton bindings as it uses the channel mounting system. You’ll need Burton bindings with the iCS system.

Firstly, I would forget the Rome Artifact rocker, unless you just want to ride rails and jibs. If you want to look at a Rome board, the Agent rocker is the all mountain freestyle board with the skills to pay the bills, it uses a hybrid rocker with camber in the nose and tail.

I think the Dudes is quite a specialist board for aggresive snowboarders. It’s quite firm flexing, infact it’s really firm between the bindings. I think it’s a board for those riders whole like firm cambered boards but want to venture into the rocker realm. If you want to look at a YES, the Typo will probably be more up your street.

Burton custom Flying V… a very nice board indeed. Definitely all-mountain, but fun in the park and not too much a handful to jib around on. Although, I’d probably discount this board if rails make up a large proportion of your day.

If you want a softermore progressive board that will handle all mountain and will be at home in the park, check out the Signal Omni which uses camber between the feet and rocker at the nose and tail. It might also be worth having a look at the Ride DH 2.4. I haven’t ridden it, but the DH is a steady freestyle stick and with rockered tips, it can only be more forgiving and progressive.

Rich, I thought with 2011 Burton boards, they will give you the new M6 (or whatever they call it) hardware with you when you buy bindings (or ask for them) so that you can use other brands bindings or older Burton EST bindings.

Whats your take on the Capita Stairmaster Extreme?

Since its not cambered, Union contacts wouldn’t be a good fit correct?

Recommendations on what bindings would be decent?

I am heavily leaning towards the Capita right now… as I’ve started really getting in-depth about snowboards.  I am really looking to just progress on jumps and rails instead of overall mountain boarding.

Well yeah Burton can provide binding conversion kits for their bindings and other manufacturers offer blates for Burton bindings with ICS but it kind of cancels out the point of having the ICS system in the first place. I’ve heard that the board flexes pretty poorly with the conversion plates. Isn’t M6 a referesnce tothread or length of the bolt?

Standard Force or Delta Union Bindings would do the trick! I don’t think it’s a case of not being able to use th Contact basplate on cambered boards, it’s just better for rocker decks.

I’m hearing a lot of negative reviews about Union bindings and their heelcup/toestrap being basically crap.  How do you guys feel about Rome 390 Boss bindings or K2 Formula with the Stairmaster Extreme?

Hey Chayo,

They’re both mid-flexing bindings with a good reputation. I had a look on the K2 website and some users did comment that the Formula, although a great binding, had a lot of wear and tear after just one season. Unfortunately I can only really advise on the bindings that I ride; For the past 6 years I’ve ridden Salomon bindings and can’t sing their praises any more…...my last pair of SPX Pro lasted me for three whole winter seasons. I’m now riding Salomon Chief Select which are super comfortable, durable and look pretty damn cool too.

Have a look on the Salomon website:

If you’re looking for a slightly stiffer all-mountain freestyle binding then look at the ‘Chief’......this is what I ride.

If you want a mid-flexing all-mountain freestyle binding then have a look at the ‘Code’.

If you want a mid-flexing park focused binding then have a look at the Arcade.

Want a soft flexing park binding then have a look at the Boss or Patriot
