I’m an intermediate rider 5’10” 180kg boot size 10uk, I’m looking for a mostly mountain board suitable for riding pistes & sidecountry/powder. I like speed, some switch (but I need more practise), hitting small to medium size jumps and drops. Edge hold is a big deal for me, the stronger the better, I only get a couple of weeks a year so i’m on the first lift every day and hate that skid/slide sensation on a hard early morning piste!!! From the boards I’ve tested I seem to prefer hybrids as i’ve found camber isn’t as much fun in powder and the full rocker boards I’ve rode felt flimsy and the stability & edge hold I like isn’t there for that kind of riding. I’ve been looking at the 157 Travis Rice because it’s hard to ignore how enthusiatic people are about it but i’m thinking a twin that size wont float so well in powder. Also looking at the 158 Nidecker Megalight, but i’d really welcome any suggestions if you can recommend something you think is better, there’s a lot of choice out there!
