How does this board sound?

Hey guys, just read some of the reviews that was posted on this website loving it! Great source of info. Out of this site it made me consider the Atomic Banger. I am about 5’5, weighing in at 160LB. According to my weight Atomic seems to tell me I need a 158CM board, which is the shortest banger they got. Now My big question is that I am still pretty much progressing on my skill levels, would this board be to difficult to use? I can go at a decent speed, but that’s only because my brain is telling that. I live Eastern Canada, so we do get some snow but not deep powder. I want to get down the mountain at the fastest time I can and will probably not hit the park any time soon, maybe just a little hop here and there that’s about it. Thanks in advance and for the great reviews!

It tops out there flex level at 8, so it will be a charger for sure…  although it’s rockered so that should help tame it.

Having started out riding the east coast I would look for two special things in a board…  good edge technology and a ride dampening system.  You’ll hit more hard packed / groomers / ice so those techs will help you enjoy yourself more.

In edge tech I like magnetraction, it’s found in Lib Tech, Gnu and Rossi boards.  It helps bite ice on steep pitches, takes some getting used too but it is legit.

In dampening the coolest system I’ve ever rode was harshmellow on K2, specifically the Turbo Dream.  My current Salomon has a rubber dampening edge system but I don’t notice as much as the harshmellow.

Hope that helps…

Can’t seem to find if there is any special edge traction or dampening tech in this board when I searched it up. Atomic’s site indicated that the banger has a progressive sidecut, “ease into wider turns without hooking, then make the turn as tight as desired as the rider accelerates through the middle of the turn and come out of the turn without losing much (if any) energy.”

As for the dampening system, can’t really find any info on it from their website.

Hey JXU,

The Banger is definitly a deep powder board. It has a directional tapered shape, set-back stance and early rise nose which really aims it at riding deep snow. I would look for something a little less specialised.

Stoked you’re finding the site useful :)

I’ve just ordered it last night. Seems like I gotta try it out and see if I can make due with it now. Cost was just over $250 shipped to my door, so atleast it was a good price.

Regardless it’s a great price for a quiver board! When it does dump you won’t regret your choice! It’s light too so you won’t have much trouble queezing it into your lugage allowance as a second deck.
