Hey, I’m 5’11 190lbs and wear a 12 size boot and i am looking to get a new board. I ride a 155 Rome Agent with rome sds l/xl bindings right now and I want a smaller board. I have been looking at the skate banana 152, Gnu carbon credit series btx 153, Gnu street series btx 154, or the Gnu riders choice btx 154.5 and these are in no particular order. i would like a banana tech board. I am wondering is any of those boards to small of a board for me to ride or should I be ok, I ride all mountain I am a pretty good freerider and i go out west at least once a year but am getting bored with just hitting kickers and just going down runs and want to start learning the park side of boarding now since I live in MI and the runs a 2 secs long. I am looking for a little input on my dilemma or if you have any suggestions they would be much appreciated. what i really want is a board that will take me through the runs and the park out west and then get me through the park and ice back home in MI and something with a little flex so i can easily ollie. any help is much appreciated thanks for your time and input. i am leaning towards the gnu carbon credit but do not know what size to go with i may mention.

Hey Bananatech,
Firstly, you’re going to need to buy a a wide deck because your feet are too large for a normal board width. I probably wouldn’t go for a shorter deck, it won’t really make hitting rails any easier and will mean that at 5’ 11” you probably won’t be able to get your stance wide enough. If you’re looking for a board that is easier to jib you want a board that is slightly softer longitudinally and laterally…...and maybe a board with a rocker or zero camber profile. In all honesty you should be looking at a board that is around 156 or 157 to get the most out of your riding. If I was you I’d have a look at the following boards:
K2 Darkstar 157 W - Light, poppy at low speeds, easy to press and butter, great value for money.
Atomic Hatchett 156 W - Pretty light, poppy and generally great fun.
Nidecker Advanced 157 XL- A great board that is ridiculous fun all over the mountain, has an amazingly smooth and stable pop, and is very good value for money.
If you try any of these boards you’ll be ridiculously stoked…...obviously the boards that you listed are cool but you’ll be very pleasantly surprised by the boards that I listed.

i may go with the 154w darkstar but i dono i really want btx and mtx cause ill be riding alot of icey hard - packed stuff but i think i wont buy a board lower than a 154 and no higher than a 156 but that atomic does sound like a great board and perfect for what im looking for to be honest with the dark star. what do you think about the btx and mtx and reverse camber stuff and does either of those to resemble both the btx and mtx and reverse camber and have any other boards you think would be good
