I’m a little confused. I’m a beginner with this, so bear with me. I really like the Atomic Fallen Angel 2012 snowboard, but in the description it says that it’s for park, but also says that it’s good for mountain. If I get this board will it make it harder for me to learn since it’s not specifically for mountain? I found it really cheap so I want to get it if it won’t complicate my life.

Hi Lauren - the Fallen Angel is Atomic’s all-round ladies board, so it’ll do everything fairly well. You will be able to take it in the park if you want without too many problems, and it will also be able to handle piste easily. It’s got a flex rating of 4 out of 8 on Atomic’s scale, so it won’t be too stiff, but at the same time it’s not the softest board Atomic do.

You’ve said you’re a beginner, but what’s your riding level like? There are certain things about a snowboard that can enable you to progress more quickly and really gain some confidence if that’s something you need. It would also help to know your height, weight and foot size so you can take this into account when picking your board length.

Anyways, if you like the Atomic, also check out the following as comparisons:
Never Summer Pandora
K2 Fling
Ride Rapture
Burton Lux

Promise I’m not trying to make your life complicated :-). The Atomic would more than likely be fine for you, but it’s always good to have a look at other options too. All of the 4 above and the Atomic are made to help a rider progress from beginner to intermediate and beyond.

Also, don’t forget about boots and bindings. Boots are just as important as the board as a badly fitting pair can give you a really bad day.

Hi Lauren,

the Atomic Fallen Angel is an entry level board which will help you progress really fast. It’s listed as a park board pretty much because it does have a quite soft flex and therefore is suited well for boxes, rails and smaller jumps. But that does not mean it will make you have a hard time on the piste.
If you like it and can get it really cheap, just go for it!

Cheers Tobi
