Anyone bought his vids? The YouTube teasers are pretty sweet and I’ve incorporated his straight line to the jump tip without checking speed and it’s helped out a lot. Plus it’s only $50 for the whole system downloaded… so close to getting it.

Torstein Horgmo has gone bananas

Snowboard-Review isn’t really a snowboarding news site, but I couldn’t keep this to myself. It appears the ridiculously stylish Torstein Horgmo Robot has had a short Circuit and gone absolutely crazy. So Torstein Horgmo Snowboarding Robot mk1 or Torstein for short has just thrown down a tripple cork… what’s next? I remember when Jimmy Rippy’s double backflips were cool… actually what am I saying, Jim Rippy’s double backs were never cool. Check out the video

Torstein Horgmo tripple cork video

European snowboarding geography question…

OK, me again with yet another random question… :)

I work as a Massage Therapist, not the most glamorous position but I love what I do. I’m very lucky in that I have access to get European citizenship through Portugal. I’ve been kicking around the idea of moving to Europe and practice massage in a country where it’s more common and I can continue to learn and grow.

Here is my question: I’m totally hooked on snowboarding again… I cannot and will not part from it. However living in the mountains of Alberta over the past few months isn’t the best for me, a long winter and dry climate are playing havoc with me. Which parts in Europe are nice and sunny, close to water etc. BUT not far from the mountains (say 2 or less hours via train)? I pretty much want the best of both worlds together. :)

I really appreciate any help on this one, you can help influence my future!

Is it worth buying a new board to learn switch.

Only got a day and a half on the mountain this year so I’m pissed. For this reason I shall vent my spleen
by bitching out crappy snowboard rental equipment in France as a lead up to my question.

I am 6’2, 87kg (13 stone I think) Size 11 Saloman F22’s, Ride Fleetwood ‘61 deck 1” setback.

I bought my board after three seasons of having rental shops try to palm off, size ‘56-58 boards on me, that were skinnier the Kate Moss. Never lookuyed back, love my board.
The only problem is that I can’t ride switch which is annoying. I’ve been doing some 360 flats to get used to the edge transitions (Yes, cambered board) but actually trying riding swith is….strange. I figger that trying tor rent a twin is a non starer so should I buy one? or just keep at it with my current board??

Thinking about a ride yukon or a nitro magnum gullwing if I buy - not sure about the length yet as I don’t want to give up mach v descents.

Any advice, hints, tips to help me put together a gameplan for next season would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Wrist Protection… separate Wrist Guard or Built-in Protection

Hi everyone, i already have wrist guard and snowboard gloves. my favorite wrist guard is my Demon Snow guard… with Burton Goretex snowboard glove.

I read that the wrist guard provides protection to the wrist but it moves the affected area to the upper arm… then i read about biomex http://www.xsportsprotective.com/level-gloves.html

Level Super Pipe Pro Protective Snowboard Gloves - What do you think? Is this a good buy? Are you using separate wrist guard and glove or snowboard glove with built-in wrist guard?

Thanks

Waxing your pole, er deck…

:)

OK, super bored and I have to study for some *hit tomorrow so I want to talk waxing to procrastinate.

Do you guys structure your boards before waxing? I structure afterwards with a nylon brush but I read that it’s good to do with stainless steel/brass brush prior to waxing as well?

As well how do you clean crap off your base that is baked in? I have some sort of grease on my Novus that is really in the base, the standard soak with base cleaner isn’t doing much. I saw somewhere to just iron the board as is and scrap the crap off but I don’t want to cook it into the base just in case.

Also is it really worth it to get more expensive wax like Kuu Mach 3? A small bar is like $70+, just seems so expensive but if it makes you as fast as Russian MiG-29 then I might be interested.

Goggle compatibility and polarized lenses

Hi folks!
I am currently looking for a good deal on a snowboard goggle.
Searching around for quality and style I always ended up finding myself on the oakley website, again. (see my notices at the end for some explanation)
I am not really into hyped stuff but the Crowbar/A-Frame looks really nice to me.

So here are my 2 questions:
First of all a legendary yes/no question: Does anyone know if the Crowbar/A-Frame fits to a Giro G9 helmet (size M) ?

Second of all a more detailed question: I am unsure whether I should get a polarized lense or not. The advantages are abvious, as well as the disadvantages. But does anything outweigh the other? And let’s put it this way: it’s about the money as well..
Maybe I should add that I already got a regular-lense-not-so-good Alpina goggle which I could use on other than bluebird days.
Still - Fire Iridium or H.I. Amber polarized? Tell me what you think!

To come back to what I said in the beginning: I had a look at the Electric and Dragon Goggles as well as Giro’s. I don’t actually know if it’s true but to me it seemed as if the dragon goggles do have a quite huge frame.
That’s why I really liked the thin frame of the Electric EG2. But I read that it is not compatible to many helmets and does not fit on the noses quite too good.
And I just didn’t really like the look of the Giro goggles, hehe.

Pros and Cons of stance width

What are the pros and cons of having a wider stance vs a shorter stance…?

Will it be easier to handle the board either way, pulling of 180’s or 360’s…?

I was pulling up to a Quad when a lift operator asked me why I rode with such a short stance… I didn’t realize I was….

As the end of the season nears in my neck of the woods, I figured I would slowly tweak my stance and
see what happens.

Thanks for any insight.
